Aunt Nola’s

At least a couple different family members stayed with my great Aunt Nola while going to MU, including my Mom.  A story I remember her telling was of a time she’d helped Nola paint one of the rooms in her house.  Nola bought the same color as she had before, and she’d painted it so recently that there hadn’t been any fading or darkening of the color — the new looked exactly like the old.  The only way Mom could tell where to ‘go’ with her roller was to look for the wet sheen of the fresh paint.

Nola was an associate professor of mathmatics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, retiring in 1967.  She told us that in her day she was one of only seven women teaching college in the country — maybe she said (or meant) at MU, I don’t remember.  Either is entirely possible.  More at Wikipedia, HERE.

The photos were taken in 1980.
