Generate Image...

Several years ago I’d experimented with pixelating some of my photos—intensionally reducing their resolution in order to create a graphic block-pattern rendition of each.  Good place to start with an experiment in AI.  All the kids are talking about AI, so I thought maybe I should try to become at least minimally conversant in it.

Here’s what I did:

In PS, I opened each pixelated image and clicked the Generate Image item in the Edit menu.  In the Describe the image you want to generate box I said: “Restore the original high resolution image.”  I click the Photo option, but no Effects or Style.  In the third column above are the strangest of the three variations it gave me.

I gotta say honestly, I don’t much like these and find them a little disturbing.  Granted I didn’t give the robot much to work with but geezez, there are some strange ‘thoughts’ represented here, and some color schemes that aren’t remotely related to the pixilated colors I gave it. The last one #167 is a good example of  liberties taken.

So there you have it.  Not dazzled.  I won’t likely be revisiting the AI soon.

Original Funnel cake images are HERE, and the Pixelated series, HERE.  All were produced using only my own limited native intelligence.
